Introduction

Under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, large energy suppliers provide funding towards energy efficiency measure installations in domestic homes. To install a measure in your home under the ECO scheme, we need to collect and share some of your personal information with authorised organisations. We will only collect and use personal data as described in this notice, in line with our legal obligations and your rights.

The Personal Data We Collect and Use

We collect your data directly. This may include:

  • Your name, address, and in some cases your date of birth (to check your eligibility for the scheme and contact you about your installation)
  • Proof of identity (to support eligibility or other scheme requirements)
  • Copies of documents showing proof of benefits or income (provided by the DWP or HMRC, limited to eligibility verification)
  • Your phone number and email address (to contact you about the installation process)
  • Optional: The amount you contribute financially (used by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy for developing future schemes)

Providing Your Personal Data

If providing certain data is optional, we’ll tell you. In all other cases, you must provide your data for us to deliver ECO-related services. Without it, we cannot proceed with the installation.

Using Your Personal Data

We will process your personal data:

  • To fulfil our contract with you
For example, to manage and complete the installation process at your property.
  • To pursue our legitimate interests
Such as verifying your eligibility for the ECO scheme and working with third parties to deliver the service.
  • To comply with legal obligations
Including data access requests you may make under data protection law.

In certain cases, we may process sensitive personal data (e.g. health-related information to verify eligibility). If we need to do this, you’ll receive a separate notice detailing how and why your data is used.

International Transfers:
Some data may be processed outside of the European Union, but only where necessary for the purposes outlined above. All appropriate safeguards (as defined by the ICO) will be in place before any transfer occurs.

Your data will only be processed for ECO-related activities unless you give specific consent otherwise.
